A massive humanitarian shipment, carrying 5,800 tonnes of essential supplies for Gaza, departed from Hamriyah Port in Dubai on Monday. The vessel, named Mother of the Nation, is the largest ship deployed in the UAE's Operation Gallant Knight 3, which is part of ongoing relief efforts for the Palestinian people.
A Gift from the Mother of the Nation:
The UAE’s largest aid ship is named after Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.
The Mother of the Nation vessel is a tribute to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the President of the General Women’s Union, who has been instrumental in supporting the Palestinian cause. This aid shipment includes food, clothing, shelter materials, and ambulances, as part of a broader humanitarian mission.
Operation Gallant Knight 3: A Lifeline for Gaza
The UAE’s mission to support Gaza has reached significant milestones in its ongoing effort.
Launched on November 5, 2023, by President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Operation Gallant Knight 3 focuses on providing urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza. Coordinated by the Ministry of Defence and Emirates Red Crescent, this mission has delivered over 55,000 tonnes of aid, making it the longest-running relief effort in UAE history.
A Comprehensive Humanitarian Effort:
Key initiatives include field hospitals, desalination projects, and patient transfers to the UAE.
In addition to sending supplies, the UAE has deployed doctors and volunteers to Gaza and Egypt, set up field hospitals in Gaza, and created water desalination stations in Rafah, Egypt. The UAE also launched the Birds of Goodness initiative to deliver aid to hard-to-reach areas.
